Chimichurri is a fresh, uncooked, garnigh-type sauce with it's roots in Argentina.  The traditional way to eat chimichurri is to serve it with griled meats.  I am all about tradition, but this chicichurri sauce is so good I want to slather it on all the things!

It only takes just a few minutes and a little bit of knife work to make this simple and delicious sauce, which means there's no excuse to not try it the next time you fire up the grill on steak night.

WHAT IS IN CHIMICHURRI SAUCE?

Chimichurri sauce is made with:
  • olive oil
  • fresh parsley
  • fresh oregano
  • red wine vinegar 
  • jalapeno
  • garlic
  • salt and pepper
You can also mix things up and make Cilantro Chimichurri Sauce.  So good!

HOW TO MAKE CHIMICHURRI SAUCE

With just a few minutes of chopping, you can make a bright, fresh chimichurri sauce. To make chimichurri sauce, you combine olive oil, minced parsley, minced oregano, red wine vinegar, minced jalapeno pepper, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. That's it! It's so easy to prepare!

HOW TO STORE CHIMICHURRI SAUCE

Store homemade chimichurri sauce in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

WHAT DO YOU SERVE CHIMICHURRI WITH?

Chimichurri sauce has a bright flavor thanks to the herbs, a little bit of earthiness thanks to the garlic, and a little tangy bite thanks to the red wine vinegar. It is amazing served with grilled meats, but it is super versatile and can be used in lots of other ways, too!  Try it one of these delicious ways:
  • marinate meats before grilling (save some for garnishing!)
  • drizzle over grilled steak, chicken, pork, or fish 
  • drizzle over chicken wings
  • serve with eggs at breakfast
  • with cooked pasta
  • as a roasted vegetable garnish
  • mixed with sour cream as a chip dip

INGREDIENTS


1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup fresh minced parsley
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 red jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh minced oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper


INSTRUCTIONS


1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.

NOTES


If you have time to let this chimichurri sauce sit, it will give it a chance to let the flavors meld. It will still be delish served right away though!
