All-American Club Dogs topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and mayo are a fun twist on a summer favorite! These tasty grilled dogs will be the talk of your next barbecue!
I have recently become obsessed with hot dog toppings. I have decided that there are infinite ways to dress up a plain hot dog because everything I decide to top them with ends up tasting so darn good! I'm not kidding!
My last creation, Bacon-Wrapped Egg Salad Dogs, were a huge hit! That's right, I said egg salad. Don't knock it 'til you try it!
I'm not one to shun the classics, though. Toppings don't have to be fancy to be delicious. You can give me a hot dog with good old Heinz Ketchup any day of the week and I'd be perfectly okay with that.
However, because hot dogs lend themselves so well to just about every topping imaginable, why not mix things up every now and then?!
This time around, I decided to head to Walmart to pick up everything I needed to make (drumroll, please) All-American Club Dogs!
I picked up my Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners, Kraft American Singles, and Oscar Mayer Bacon and headed home to pair them with my lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo I already had in the pantry.
Now, you may be wondering where the American cheese comes in to play with this recipe. If you're a sandwich connoisseur, you know that a classic club sandwich is topped with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and mayo, but no cheese.
If you know me, though, you know that one of my philosophies in life is that everything is better with cheese. A club sandwich, or club dog, in this case, is no exception!
Speaking of cheese, I also picked up a package of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese at Walmart to serve on the side with our hot dogs.
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is the perfect accompaniment to a good old hot dog, don't you think? It's super easy to make and the kids think it's a fun step up from our usual potato chips.
I should also mention that I have another philosophy in life that everything is better with bacon. Naturally, I served the macaroni and cheese with crumbled bacon on top! Delish!
This meal made the whole family happy and was the perfect poolside dinner. The kids ate their classic hot dogs with ketchup with mac and cheese on the side, and my husband and I went with these think-outside-the-box club dogs with mac and cheese topped with crumbled bacon.
I highly suggest keeping a pack of hot dogs, a pound of bacon, some macaroni and cheese, and some fresh veggies on hand at all times. If you're a meal-planner or a 'just wing it' kind of person, having the basics on hand makes 'what's for dinner' a breeze any night of the week!
Not to mention the fact that if you stay stocked up, you'll be prepared to throw a killer barbecue for family and friends this summer on a moment's notice. Win!
