Spaghetti is one of those meals that I can make again and again and my family won't complain. Its familiar flavors make everyone in the family happy even if I serve it every week (which often I do!).
The only person who really has an issue with weekly spaghetti is me.
I surely can't complain about preparing it. I mean, really. What's easier than boiling some pasta and heating up some sauce? I almost always have a jar of sauce in the pantry and some homemade sauce in the freezer, too. No, it's not how difficult it is to cook. The truth is, I just get plain old bored with spaghetti. As much as I love Italian, the same old plate of spaghetti needs some jazzing up every now and then.
Your family's fave spaghetti dinner can easily be dressed up with a few kinds of cheese and a casserole dish! I couldn't be easier to transform the classic into a comforting casserole that you will want to make for those days when you need a change from the norm.
In addition to kicking jarred sauce up a notch by adding some sauteed onion, I used provolone, cream cheese, and parmesan cheese to make this casserole hearty, cheesy and delicious! I think next time I may mix in some sausage, too.
If you feel like you've been needing a break from your typical plate of spaghetti, take the extra time to whip up this tasty casserole. I have a feeling you will love it as much as we did!

ReplyDeleteHi Becky
ReplyDeleteHow much onions? Not in the ingredient's list. Also, how much sausage can I add in this recipe.
Sorry about that! This recipe uses 1 small onion, diced. It should be right around 1/2 cup. If you add sausage, I would add no more than 1/2 lb if you are still planning on using the ground beef, too. If you are not using ground beef, than 1 lb of sausage. Or you could do 1/2 sausage, 1/2 ground beef!
DeleteWhen does the Sour Cream get mixed in?
ReplyDeleteStep 3. :)
